Change the story with words

The defining feature of Beacon Pines is how you interact with the narrative itself. As you explore the beautiful, diorama-style environments, you will collect special golden charms. Each charm has a specific word engraved on it (like “Chill,” “Hide,” or “Ponder”).

When you reach critical turning points in the story, you can use these word charms to fill in the blanks of the narrator’s sentences. The word you choose drastically changes the events that follow.

The chronicle

You aren’t locked into a bad choice. As the reader, you can use an interactive story tree called The Chronicle to navigate the branching paths of the book. Exploring one set of events might end in disaster, but it will also unlock new word charms. You can then jump back in time, use those newly discovered words on a different branch, and alter fate to find the true ending.
